Facilities Services will perform a phased Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lighting upgrade to improve energy efficiency and lighting performance at 2589 Samaritan Drive
A Light‑Emitting Diode (LED) is a modern lighting technology that produces light more efficiently and with less heat than traditional bulbs
The work will replace existing compact fluorescent lighting with new LED fixtures throughout the building
Temporary access restrictions to individual rooms, workspaces, or corridors may occur while fixtures are being replaced
Occupants are advised to take personal belongings with them at the end of the workday and ensure patient and sensitive information is properly secured before leaving for the evening
The work is scheduled as follows:
Monday, August 24, 2026 – Friday, August 28, 2026: Third and fourth floor lighting upgrades
Monday, August 31, 2026 – Friday, September 4, 2026: Third and fourth floor lighting upgrades
Tuesday, September 8, 2026 – Friday, September 11, 2026: Third and fourth floor lighting upgrades
Monday, September 14, 2026 – Sunday, September 20, 2026: First and second floor lighting upgrades
Monday, September 21, 2026 – Friday, September 25, 2026: First and second floor lighting upgrades
Monday, September 28, 2026 – Friday, October 2, 2026: First and second floor lighting upgrades
Work will occur during overnight hours and weekends to minimize operational impacts
Temporary access to individual rooms or corridors may be limited during fixture replacement
Action required: Occupants are advised to take personal belongings with them at the end of the workday and ensure that patient or sensitive information is properly secured, as work will be performed after hours
This project aims to replace fluorescent lights with LED lighting to improve our Energy Use Intensity (EUI) and comply with California's 2025 ban on fluorescent lights. The upgrade will not only provide significant energy savings and reduced maintenance costs but also enhance lighting quality. This proactive improvement supports environmental sustainability goals, ensures regulatory compliance, and provides lasting cost savings and operational efficiency
